Instructions for Applying for Accommodation at the University of Lusaka

Form opens: Tuesday, 3 June 2025 @ 10:00 AM CAT
Attempting to access the form earlier will show a countdown message.

1 · Access the Application Form

  1. After 10:00 AM CAT on 3 June 2025, navigate to
    https://sms.unilus.ac.zm/hostels/ApplyAccommodation.aspx.
  2. Ensure you have a stable internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone ready.

2 · Check Your Eligibility

  1. Enter your Student Number in the field provided.
  2. Click Check Eligibility.

The form loads below A message appears, e.g.
“You have already submitted an application.”

If the portal still shows an opening-time message, wait until 10 AM CAT and try again.

3 · Complete the Application Form

Field What to do
Summary Briefly state why you require on-campus housing.
Disability Status Choose the appropriate option (e.g. No disability, Physical disability).
Preferred Floor Select “Floor 1 – (A) Ground” through “Floor 5 – (E) Top Most”.
Province Type your province of residence (e.g. Copperbelt).
Room Type Pick a room type with available slots.

Click Submit Application.
If a validation message appears in red, correct the field(s) and submit again.

4 · Select a Room

After the form is accepted, a table of available rooms appears.

Column Explanation
Hostel Hostel name
Room No. Room identifier
Room Type Matches your earlier choice
Capacity Max occupants
Occupied Current applicants

Click Apply beside your preferred room.

If no rooms match your room type, you’ll see:

“No available rooms for the selected room type.”
Contact Accommodation Services for assistance.

5 · Confirmation & Next Steps

  • A green banner confirms:

    “Your application has been successfully submitted. Do not make a payment until you receive an acceptance notice.”

  • You’ll also receive a confirmation email (check spam/junk if it’s missing).
  • Processing may take up to 14 working days.
  • The email is not an offer; await an official acceptance notice.
  • The page auto-redirects to the student login portal (https://portal.unilus.ac.zm/) after five seconds.

Important Reminders

✅ Do ❌ Don’t
Wait for an acceptance notice before paying. Submit more than one application (the system blocks duplicates).
Use the same device/browser for fewer errors. Refresh repeatedly before 10 AM CAT (the form will still be locked).
Contact Accommodation Services for issues. Ignore validation errors—your application won’t save.
